This is one of the most renowned and ideal part of the Great Wall. A place not to be missed if travelling to China.
As one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall, the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall used to protect the capital from the northern part from any possible invasions. Its other main purpose was to ensure that the imperial tombs were well defended.
You can hike up or go by table cart up to the wall and descend all the way down on the toboggan!
The steps up the wall can be a little uneven at certain points but trekking up is highly recommended.
The views offered from the wall are fantastic and the views are fabulous for taking pictures!
We recommend travellers to bring their cameras, some comfortable hiking shoes and, if possible, a hiking pole too.
