Buying Souvenirs in North Korea

(Harris)

Greetings. I would like to know if there is a certain amount of dollars or euros that i can bring into North Korea as I would like to buy some Taekwondo books and equipment to bring back to my country. Are there any restrictions on what we can buy in North Korea? What kind of souvenirs are available in the DPRK for travellers to purchase?

I would also like to know if I can take a photo camera into the DPRK or if it is not allowed to take photos in North Korea.

Thank you

Souvenirs in North Korea

Hi David,

Thanks for your input. We now also go to a local shop in Pyongyang where we can exchange foreign currency for Korean Won and can buy together with Koreans.

Cheers,

Buying Souvenirs

Hello,
No restriction of souvenirs you can buy because you will be taken to places which always have a souvenir shop attached so buy up. Hard currency to take are Chinese, Euro and US dollars,, make sure they are all in small notes to make purchasers easier. Taking a DSLR camera or a little pocket camera with a zoom lens into DPRK is no problem, providing it does not have a telephoto lens and importantly no GPS capability.
Enjoy your journey
