Kim Il Sung 100th Birthday Tour 2012

Kim Il Sung 100th Birthday Tour 2012. The application deadline for this tour is March 12 2012. If interested in extending your tour please send us an e-mail stating how long you would like to extend for and if there are any specific places you would like to visit.

If not a US citizen, you can also join this tour by train. Please contact us if you are interested in this option.

Day 1 - April 12 (Thurs)

  • Depart from Beijing at 14.00 flight JS 252 Terminal 2, Beijing Capital Airport
  • Arrive in Pyongyang at 17.00 (Pyongyang time)

PM

  • Mansudae Grand Monument
  • Fountain Park
  • Hotel check in
  • Dinner at Yanggakdo Hotel

Overnight: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Day 2 - April 13 (Fri)

AM

  • Breakfast (Yanggakdo Hotel)
  • Depart to Panmunjom (the DMZ) by coach
  • 38th Parallel (DMZ) - chance to enter the famous blue negotiation rooms where talks between North & South Korea have taken place

PM

  • Lunch at Tongil Restaurant (Kaesong)
  • Koryo Museum (Kaesong)
  • Concrete Wall - built by the South and only visible from the North. See one of the world's most important nature reserves as hardly any humans have stepped on the land dividing the Korean peninsula since 1953.
  • Tomb of King Wanggong
  • Drive back to Pyongyang
  • Dinner: Yanggakdo Hotel

Overnight: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Day 3 - April 14 (Sat)

Pyongyang metro

AM

  • Breakfast: Yanggakdo Hotel
  • Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum
  • USS Pueblo - US spyship captured in 1968. Only US vessel in possession of foreign country
  • Ride on Pyongyang Metro, the deepest in the world

PM

  • Lunch: City restaurant
  • Drive to the port city of Nampo
  • Chongsan Cooperative Farm - see how Koreans work and live in this model cooperative farm
  • Nampo Orphanage
  • West Sea Barrage
  • Drive back to Pyongyang
  • Dinner: Rungrado Restaurant

Overnight: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Day 4 - April 15 (Sun) - National Holiday - Kim Il Sung's 100th Birthday

  • Breakfast: Yanggakdo Hotel
  • Kumsusan Memorial Palace (where the body of Kim Il Sung lies in state)
  • Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery

PM

  • Lunch: Pyongyang City Restaurant
  • Mangyongdae - Kim Il Sung's Birthplace
  • Moranbong Park (where locals picnic and gather on national holidays)
  • Juche Tower - chance to go up the 150 metre tower (170 metres including the torch) that offers a panoramic view of Pyongyang
  • Mass dancing in Kim Il Sung Square to celebrate this National Holiday - other celebrations may be expected though these have yet not been confirmed
  • Dinner: Duck BBQ, Pyongyang

Overnight: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Day 5 - April 16 (Mon)

Pohyon Temple North Korea

AM

  • Breakfast: Yanggakdo Hotel
  • Drive to Mount Myohyang
  • International Friendship Exhibition Centre - exposing thousands of presents given to Kim Il Sung his son Kim Jong Il and his wife Kim Jong Suk
  • Pohyon Buddhist Temple

PM

  • Lunch: Chongchon Hotel
  • Drive back to Pyongyang
  • D.P.R.K Film Studio - see where Korean movies are filmed
  • Grand People's Study House
  • Farewell Dinner: City Restaurant

Overnight: Yanggakdo Hotel

Day 6 - April 17 (Tue)

AM

  • Breakfast: Yanggakdo Hotel
  • Transfer to the airport
  • JS 151 flight to Beijing

*Please note that the 100th Anniversary of the Birthday of Kim Il Sung will be one of the most important dates in the recent history of North Korea. As a result a high number of political delegations will be expected in the DPRK and the program above may be subject to change.
