Can I go to North Korea directly from South Korea?

by Andy
(Dublin)

Can one go from South Korea across to North Korea? Will be doing a trip around asia and it should be interesting to see these two places. I heard there were trips to North Korea from Seoul but aren't sure if these are still going on.

Entering North Korea from South Korea
by: KTG

Hi Andy, thank you for your message. You will not be able to enter North Korea from South Korea. The country of entry we normally use is China, though we can also arrange for you to fly into Pyongyang from Vladivostok, Russia (they fly there on Thursdays).

You will need to apply for a double-entry Chinese visa if you are visiting from out of China as you will be entering China twice.

Before there used to be short trips from South Korea to North Korea e.g. to Gumgangsan and Kaesong but this no longer take place. You can visit these places on one of our tours (we always include Kaesong in our programs).

Hope this helps!
